Life
Leader of the Kawanami Band
Ambition
Rise from outlaw leader to a recognized Oda and Toyotomi commander, winning a secure domain for his family and followers.
He wants to win full samurai status for his companions, long scorned as river bandits. He stakes everything on Hideyoshi’s extraordinary character and will support his bid for supremacy from behind the scenes.
Failure in a dangerous engineering or covert operation, such as building the fort at Sunomata overnight, could cost his entire clan their lives.
- The Saitō of Mino’s fierce night attacks and sabotage
- Prejudice from samurai who see him as an outlaw and river pirate
- The harsh engineering and surprise attacks, always covered in mud and blood
Character and convictions
The Kawanami band’s unity, forged on the rough Kiso River, and his sworn brotherhood with Hideyoshi.
The bitterness of a status-bound society that mocked him as an “outlaw chief” no matter how much he achieved.
His rough followers, beginning with his heir Iemasa, who entrusted their lives to him.
Abandoning the Kawanami companions who shared his hardships and advancing alone.
